Great to see the mechanics and staff from Adeline Adeline, Rolling Orange 718 Cyclery, Ride Brooklyn and BikeYard at Vaccaro & White’s Third Annual Bike Mechanic’s Appreciation Day last Friday. Did you know that the owner of 169 Bar is a former client of Adam White? Hear 169 Bar owner Charles Hanson explain how good things can come from bad crashes:
“Charles took up semi-professional bicycle racing during the Lance Armstrong era, working as a bike messenger as training. After a roof deck messenger party, Charles was hit by a limo. While laid up with a broken knee and shoulder, the idea of becoming a profesional DJ first crossed his mind and as soon as he could walk, this he did, with success. It was while working as a DJ at the 169 Bar that the opportunity arose to purchase the bar and with the insurance money from the limo hit, he made it happen!! The rest is history!
Laissez les bons temps rouler!!”
